A ‘false alarm’ at a town centre bank resulted in the property being evacuated this morning.

Halifax bank, on Hope Street was evacuated shortly before 11:30am this morning following a ‘false alarm’ reportedly caused by smoke from a toaster.

When Wrexham.com walked through town at around 12:30pm customers and staff were still standing outside the building – with one member of staff stood outside the doors informing people of what was taking place.

Carole, a customer in the bank at the time, told Wrexham.com: “I was leaving the counter, the alarm was going off and staff said they were not aware of a fire drill so we were asked to leave.”
