A crowdfunding campaign to raise funds for local children who wouldn’t normally get the opportunity to attend a live football match, has been launched.

The campaign, modelled on a similar idea by Oxford United, aims to raise almost £984 to assist local children, who for many reasons may not have the opportunity to attend matches at the Racecourse.

It is hoped that £984 will be raised through donations, which will allow for the provision of two adult tickets and four under 18 tickets in the family stand.

These tickets will then be donated to a children’s charity who will manage the scheme and provide the tickets to children and young people less fortunate than ourselves. Family respite and a reward scheme are two areas that the organisers hope the tickets be used.

Details on the Crowdfunding page launched to raise the money, states: “The amazing fans of Wrexham AFC want to donate money to the Supporters’ Trust with the aim of assisting local children and young people who generally, for many reasons, may not have the opportunity to attend matches at The Racecourse Ground.

“Working closely with Barnardo’s, we hope to fund two adult season tickets for family or carers, and four tickets for children and young people.

“Together, we can offer family respite, a treat for children and young people who wouldn’t normally get the opportunity to attend a live football match or maybe a reward for some who present with behaviour that challenges, for engaging in meaningful education, training or employment? Together, we CAN change lives.”

You can make donations through the Just Giving Page here.  When the target is reached, the tickets will be provided to the children’s charity to distribute as they feel fit.
