Clwyd South MS grilled by sixth form students on mental health and Brexit during virtual Q&A
Sixth form students in Wrexham got the chance to grill their Member of the Senedd during a virtual discussion.
Ken Skates MS was asked a wide variety of questions by Year 12 students from The Maelor School, Penley, when he took part in a birtual session organised by Head of History and Politics Rob Quinn.
Among the topics covered were mental health, how the Welsh Government has protected jobs during the coronavirus pandemic and how the UK leaving the European Union might impact young people.
“I love visiting local schools and always enjoy my visits to The Maelor School. Rob said the students were keen to catch up and discuss some key issues,” said Mr Skates.
“I’d have loved to have been able to join them in person, but it was a really enjoyable morning and I’m really grateful to Rob and the IT team at the school for making it possible.”
Also discussed were Welsh Government programmes designed to help young people, such as Jobs Growth Wales – which has helped almost 20,000 aged 16-24 into work.
Mr Skates added: “It was fantastic to chat with such an enthusiastic and knowledgeable group of young people. It was an excellent, lively discussion and I look forward to catching up with the students soon.”
