Circling Beluga due to ‘unknown crane’ at Hawarden Airport
The huge Beluga plane has been doing low loops to the north of Wrexham this morning.
Update: A spokesperson for Airbus has said: “A crane involved in construction work close to the aerodrome was asked to lower as a precaution.
“The crane had the required operating permit but safety is always our first priority.”
“The aircraft (Beluga) landed safely at 9.10am”
Original information below…
The Airbus Beluga, along with a private single-engine turboprop Pilatus PC-12/47E plane, were circling over the north of Wrexham from around 8:20am due to an issue on the ground at Hawarden Airport.
An Airbus Beluga was spotted at around 8.20am circling overhead, it remained in a holding pattern until around 9.12am when it landed at Hawarden.
Although as yet not officially confirmed, we are told the issued related to a big unknown yellow crane was put up near to the tower and apparently no one was informed about it.
As of 9:20am it appears all aircraft have now safely landed.
More shortly.
