A community radio station has had its licence extended meaning it will be able to continue broadcasting across Wrexham for a further five years.

Calon FM was originally set up in March 2008 and is based out of a studio at Glyndwr University.

The radio station hosts a diverse programme of shows presented by people from across the Wrexham community.

Those involved in running the station said they were delighted that OFCOM had granted them a licence extension.

A post on Calon’s website said: “We’d like to say a HUGE thank you to all of our amazing volunteers, presenters, and everyone we’ve welcomed into the studio since 2008. We’ve had hundreds of people through our doors including countless local charities, businesses, bands, artists, authors and wonderful community members with a story to tell.

“We’re looking forward to welcoming in many more in the next 5 years. Thanks again to everyone who has helped us over the last 5 years!”
