Armed Officers on Duty at Wrexham UB40 Concert
Armed officers are on duty this evening at the UB40 concert in Wrexham as part of increased security measures across the country.
The officers from Cheshire and North Wales AAP (Alliance Armed Policing Unit), are assisting North Wales Police with security at the Racecourse Stadium in the wake the terror attack at the Manchester Arena on Monday evening.
Reggae legends UB40 featuring Ali Campbell, Mickey Virtue and Astro will take to the stage at the Racecourse Stadium later this evening as part of their Grandslam 2017 tour.
Earlier this week My Racecourse and event organisers LHG released a joint statement explaining that all concert-goers will be subject to a ticket check/scan and search regime on entry. This includes a compulsory bag, and targeted personal search.
The statement added: “We would like to reassure all ticket holders that following the incident in Manchester on Monday evening, we are of course re-examining all security measures and where any adjustments are deemed necessary, these will be implemented.
“We therefore ask for co-operation, understanding and patience from all our concert goers as thorough security measures will continue to be applied to all persons accessing the concert sites.”
Earlier this evening North Wales Police tweeted the following and encouraged concert-goers to pop over and say hello!
