We are still a couple of weeks away from the election on May 4th, but already many candidates are taking advantage of our election profile and Q&A section – and people are actually reading it!

On Wednesday 4th April we posted letters to all 155 candidates for the council elections with a custom login and invite to upload a picture, small profile, provide some social media links if they have them – plus take part in our candidate Q&A.

We are told several candidates drafted their replies offline with others blasting through answers straight off the cuff.

Several candidates have asked how things are going so far – as a result we have a round up from this first week…

  • Currently 68 candidates have accessed the system.
  • 42 candidates have filled in a public bio.
  • 24 candidates have completed their full Q&A so far/
  • 42,316 page views in the sub section since it went live to time of writing this (Friday 14th).
  • 683 reads of the so far highest read completed candidate profile and Q&A.

Stats show that for those with filled out Q&A’s people will spend on average just over four minutes reading through the page

Over 42,000 pages in the /election2017/ sub section have been served in a week, with Acton, Llay and Gwersyllt wards being the most read. It appears unsurprisingly those candidates with profile pictures get read more.

We have had some great feedback and feature suggestions – and hope to roll out a few updates and tweaks this coming week!

If you are a candidate who has for some reason not had their letter drop us an email.

Many candidates are doing a few questions at a time and are due to complete in the coming days, with others preparing drafts after the question set was circulated by their party.

Perhaps most fun is one candidate, who is unopposed and therefore has already won, telling us they will be taking part as they think it is a Good Thing.

Remember to vote on May 4th, and remember to make sure your friends and family vote as well!
