3,517 speeders caught by Rossett A483 speed camera in a year – one doing 141 mph

Over 10,000 drivers were caught speeding in Wrexham over the past 12 months – with mobile speed cameras deployed across the county borough hundreds of times.

A Freedom of Information request (FOI) to North Wales Police from Wrexham.com has revealed that 10,157 drivers were caught speeding by the cameras during the 12 month period between June 1st 2017 and June 1st 2018.

Almost a third of those caught speeding in Wrexham were on the A483 / Rossett Junction, with the mobile cameras catching 3517 drivers exceeding the limit.

The junction also saw the highest deployment of speed cameras over the 12 month period, visiting the location 72 times.

However this is down on data from 2016, when 4518 drivers were caught exceeding the speed limit in 76 visits from the mobile speed camera.

We also asked what was the highest monthly speed recorded in Wrexham County Borough between June 1st 2017 and June 1st 2018 by a mobile speed camera, with the A483 in Rossett having the dubious record high:

In total the cameras were deployed 701 times to 43 locations between June 1st 2017 and June 1st 2018.

The second most visited location was the A5 in Halton – catching 2348 drivers over the limit.

Overall the number of drivers caught speeding by a mobile speed camera is down slightly on the 11,065 in 2016. However 5,000 motorists were also caught during the first six months of 2017.

While the most common locations are the Rossett Juntion and A5 in Halton, hundreds of drivers were caught speeding along various stretches of the A525 – including 507 visits between Coedpoeth and Minera.
