The Great Wrexham Road Runner is due take place at midday on Sunday 7 April 2013, and will start and finish at Queensway International Sports Stadium, Wrexham.

The 10km route will follow an entirely closed road course finishing with a lap of the Queensway athletics track, and participants will be timed professionally by chip and mat timing system.

The event is organised by the Income Generation Team at Nightingale House Hospice and all funds raised will go towards Palliative Care Services at the Hospice. For this reason, participants will be encouraged to raise sponsorship.

Registration is £15 (£13 for affiliated runners) which includes an energy bar, water stations, a medal, entire road closure, chip and mat timing and a goody bag. Everybody is encouraged to take part — athletes, amateur runners and fun runners are all welcome.

Margaret Hollings, Fundraising and Events Manager at Nightingale House said “We are very excited about this new event. It is attractive for both experienced and amateur runners and it makes such a difference to be able to have all the roads closed.”

“Thanks go to Wrexham County Borough Council Traffic Management Dept, Amberon and JTM signs for their help in making this possible. For those running for fun, we would love to see some fun fancy dress costumes. All proceeds from this event will go directly to Nightingale House Hospice, funding Palliative care for patients in the Wrexham Borough and the North East Wales corridors.”
