Sale Of Youth Clubs To Fund Demolition Penycae Property | Wrexham.com

I will be the first to admit that I am not the brightest of economic brains, but it does seem to me that it is a waste of resources to sell two buildings to finance the demolition of a third one. If they have to be sold off why not sell them all off and have money available to spend on something constructive rather than destructive. If they have plans for the Penycae property why not say so.

Part of the issue probably is to save having to pay rates on a empty property — but you are right the logical way is sell the building and site and then the demolition/refurbishment cost falls on the purchaser.

From today’s Executive Board Meeting it looks like the demolition costs will be in the region of £33,000. If the Council achieve near the asking price of £75,000 and £150,000 for the other two properties after costs there should be a healthy profit for the Council coffers.
