The Speaking TruthParticipant[quote quote=177977]Hi folks, just have a look at this article and see what the NHS under Labour are up to. Think about this tomorrow when you cast your hard fought vote. Labour have systematically ruined our beloved NHS in Wales and only our friend Boris can put it right.

wrexviewParticipantStill think it should be a United Kingdom NHS , no Post code lottery for treatment or drugs and cross border access to most appropriate treatment. Wrexham patients seem to have lost access to many English centres of excellence.

zingerParticipantTim Regency: Quote “There’s an eye unit at the Maelor, but they send me to Abergele because they’re specialists and thus the best people for the job. It would be nice not to have these journeys, but we’re getting treatment. The Tories just think that the NHS is one big mistake to be done away with.”
Tim, do you know that I have never seen that actually written down. I suppose that it depends which papers you read. Don’t believe everything that you read in any papers. In an minor way I have been misquoted myself so I know the score. Depends on how to make the best headlines.

TimRegencyParticipantZinger, yes, treat the papers with caution and look at the books where Tories have written things down.

DerekJacksonParticipantIf there are not a lot of specialit Doctors to teat me I am happey enough to travle to see a Doctor who is a specialsit and knows what they are doing. Yes it may be ideal to have them locally but if there are not enough specialists then you have to tarvel if you want the best.

TimRegencyParticipant…it’s also worth looking at how Conservative MPs vote, like eg against the creation of the NHS in the late 40s and now for privatisation under a Health and Social care bill.
And talking at length with the US about the NHS being part of a trade deal and then claiming they’re not going to do it? That’s like me spending all day at a solicitor’s office, talking about drawing up a will and then declaring that I never had any intention of making a will.

Right on.

zingerParticipantI have no doubt that everyone is very grateful for NHS treatment they receive from where-ever they have to travel but the point is that English NHS provides a lot of services for the Welsh NHS in North Wales. The NHS should never have been put into the hands of a Labour run Welsh Assembly who care & provide very little to the north of the country.

Rubbish. The Tories want to further privatise the NHS and they will under any deal with Trump.

DerekJacksonParticipantThe one key element about a failing health service that is often overlooked is that all of us have an expectation that health services are available on demand the same as turning the tap on for a drink. The Health Service has many entry points and people unfortunately don’t understand the differences and expect to walk into a GP surgery or ED and be seen immediately when all that is needed is a trip to Tesco for a 25p packet of Paracetamol.
Until people start triaging themselves at home or work to determine the severity and urgency of need for medical intervention or where there is a solution that does not require a GP or Hospital.
When this starts happening the numbers and lengths of waiting lists will reduce. If the numbers accessing the services there would be a real chance for medical staff to take back some level of control of the services within health and start to build up training and staff recruitment to meet current and future realistic demand rather than trying to climb a bigger and bigger hill of people waiting to be seen.
This is not about party political electioneering to determine who runs the service but mire about the general public taking a responsibility for their actions which are inappropriate.
If the demand was less, then it would reduce any risk of Private Health services as their profit opportunities would be reduced.
