When the Maelor cannot even stop people parking for free and buggering off to town, college or work, how will it stop people from smoking on its grounds?

That said, its an easy one for Kingdom because they are good at picking on the old and frail, so people with drips and catheter bags will be even easier!

Its about time too, BUT! Some kind of facility/area has to be designated at hospitals for smokers – away from the main entrances of course. Yes they should all give up we know that, but Auntie Betsi get real – a smoker needs a fag even more when in hospital. But if they do smoke outside of the designated area, then taser them!

There is such an irony with the issue of smoking on health premises – Smoking and make you ill so you go to a hospital for whatever treatment to receive medication when you then smoke to higher the risk of smoking-related illnesses.
If Berwyn prison can be made smoke free (before anyone jumps in there is illegal smoking there) surely the hospital grounds can be for patients and staff.
Berwyn issues nicotine patches so why can’t the hospital- as you can tell I am not nor ever have been a smoker.

I am afraid that is the sensible view, but when it comes to all sorts of issues these days it ain’t going to happen, common sense goes out of the window.

The smokers outside the main entrances are really bad. I have to avoid walking through them when going to the hospital and tend to use the smaller side entrances instead. Although, they have smokers outside too! It’s not just the patients and visitors either, at lunch and break times staff sit out smoking.

The staff also smoke outside the side ambulance entrances, seen nurses and Dr’s there puffing away.

It sets a really bad example to children when they see health workers smoking, it’s totally at odds with being healthy.

I agree there should be a designated area away from view for smoker’s to smoke in. There are various outside spaces which could be used.

Is that less than holy smell of stale smoke coming from you IMHO?

    Actually he looks like Nen:

There should be a fenced off smoking field, populated with vicious dogs.

The health benefits of being chased by angry animals cannot be overstated.

The last sentence here may well be poignant, in that these sort of decisions are made by people who have never smoked and have no sympathy or understanding of how hard it is for smokers to go any length of time without having a puff, this from a former smoker of 30 plus years.

I do have sympathy regarding the difficulty of smoking but whilst it is not seen as being as addictive as smoking drugs the emphasis will never be put on it– big capitalist companies making millions and Governments collecting Millions – where is the incentive for this two bodies to make a difference and ban the product.
