A rather ambiguous question myfanwy. If you doubt the figures published, what reason do you have for doing so?
Without an explanation, it’s meaningless.
On the same note, how do we know that they have not been halved?
Answer: We don’t so we have to trust them.
Because surely they wouldn’t want to pay absolutely billions upon billions of pounds out in furlough payments and business and self employed support grants as well as trash the economy for the fun of making some numbers up to keep everyone indoors.
When you consider how little they like paying out benefit payments or any kind of funding in usual times, it would be a little out of character.
Now if you think contrary to this logic and believe that it’s all a great big conspiracy then you have bigger problems that will give you Magic Wardrobe type ideas well beyond this pandemic. Good luck to you.
Well said Matt. Hidden side effect of Covid is lack of logic and common sense. When the vaccine for these is sorted. We might see many peoples behavior change and actually accept the country has a massive crisis to deal with.
The sad situation is large numbers won’t see Christmas 2021 at the current infection growth.
