Does Denbighshire County Council understand the importance of free car parking to encourage more shoppers, better than Wrexham Council? Denbighshire has followed a policy originally pioneered by Chester. All Denbighshire County Council car parks are to be “free after 3pm ” until December 31st. A similar scheme in Wrexham would stimulate trade over the festive period.

Well wrexview, it took 5 years but they listened to you and even trumped your idea! Maybe you should run for Councillor next year!

Even after five years they haven’t fully understood, the free parking in the short stay car parks is still going to be limited to two hours. The idea behind free parking is to encourage people to visit, stay longer and spend more.

2 hours is nothing really. Even if there was no limit, most stores would be shut by 5 or 5:30 anyway.

Not sure they actually know how long people are parking as the ticket machines have been removed from most of the car parks and new updated ones are being installed.

The cost of the stop start wrexham traffic ( in fuel) and parking in EM (only place with any shops left) – is about the same (in fuel) of driving at a gentle pace to boughton retail park. parking for free in a nice big car park, and using all their nice shops and cafe’s adn the cinema is better than the wrexham one also ( it’s an Imax)

even if it was free to park in wrexham there are no shops left near the car parks that the council own, it’s all EM or nothing, and that’s cold and wet lol.
