wrexham.com Reporters do the Pageant of Power in Style
Where can you find a Bugatti Veyron, military display tank, power boats and a range of helicopters all in the same place? The Cholmondeley Pageant of Power of course. Motoring enthusiasts, indeed enthusiasts of brute power and force gathered at Cholmondeley Castle this weekend to celebrate the best in man made machinery.
Naturally this sounded right up our street, so we decided not only to go along, but to go along in style. Our ride disturbed the Saturday morning peace roaring amongst the North Wales countryside, a striking black 1966 Ford Mustang driven by Schumacher. Ok so perhaps pushing the truth, it was driven by Schumacher but a guy called Rob Schumacher rather than the infamous Michael. Hearing the grunt of the engine all the way up to Cholmondeley was a man’s dream and certainly added to what turned out to be a brilliant day.
We tip our hats to all the former professional drivers at the Pageant of Power who displayed their skilful driving on the track, weaving in and out of the obstacles put before them. Overall though it was a day to admire the skill and craft of all the manufacturers, especially the old Formula 1 and vintage cars which really were a sight to behold. It’s almost a shame the industry is moving more towards alternative fuel sources – but as long we can still appreciate these super cars, bikes and more once a year, we can always gain a perspective of where the industry has moved from.
The Pageant of Power is an event we strongly recommend for next year – and if you fancy going in style or indeed to any special event in style why not give the Mustang a try.
