Lots of people post memories and images of local events, places and people on Facebook – but these rarely get into museums! A novel and exciting new exhibition, Sharing Local History on facebook, is opening on Saturday 1 December 2018 at Wrexham Library.

Come along and see some intriguing and moving scenes and events experienced within living memory in the local area. They provide fascinating glimpses into many facets of life in and around Wrexham, produced by those who lived it.

Each is just a thread in an ever-evolving web of shared and overlapping memories on Facebook – providing a rich collective history different from the one usually told in local history books.

In this exhibition, Amgueddfa Cymru – National Museum of Wales and Cardiff University collaborate with local facebook groups and Wrexham Library to bring these invisible histories to light.

You never know – you may find someone you recognise in these photos and stories!

We would love you to wander round and give us your feedback – and also share your own comments and memories.

The exhibition is free and will be running until the end of December.
