An evening in aid of the Memorial Project Sculptures for Esclusham Gardens of Remembrance, their Patron,Major General Cordingley will deliver his talk on:
The Moving Story of Remembrance
An informative and moving piece, the Major General will explore Remembrance and what it means to us. Using slide images and drawing on his experiences, this is a fitting tribute and event to raise awareness for the Memorial Project.
The evening will consist of:
– Poetry Reading
– Buffet £4 on the night, plus Bar
– On Sale Items : Poetry Books, Shares in the Sculptures
– First World War display of items from Imperial War Museum
– Locally supplied display of War artefacts and memorabilia
– Film clip being made locally, exploring the effect of War
THIS IS A FREE ADMISSION EVENT HOWEVER, WE WOULD BE GRATEFUL FOR DONATIONS ON THE DOOR TOWARDS FUNDS FOR THE COMMISSIONING OF THE PLANNED MEMORIAL SCULPTURES.
Patrick Cordingley commanded the 7th Armoured Brigade, the Desert Rats, during the 1991 Gulf War. His huge tank formation led the British and American attack which breached the Iraqi defences. He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order for his bravery and leadership. In 1996 he was appointed Military Advisor to His Majesty Sultan Qaboos of Oman. Patrick retired from the Army in 2000.
