Wrexham’s MP and AM joined the large ranks of Wrexham FC fans who have purchased their season tickets this afternoon.

Ian Lucas MP and Lesley Griffiths AM visited the Racecourse to ensure they were among fans who secured their season tickets early  and are encouraging others to do the same.

Today season ticket sales pushed over the 1,685 mark and with only a day left till the early bird season ticket prices run out the figure is expected to exceed last year’s sales of 1,800 which were sold at “fire sale” rates.

The two politicians’ visit followed the Annual Meeting of Wrexham Supporters’ Trust last night. During the meeting, WST members were told that despite a far brighter financial forecast than when the trust originally took over the running of the club, a loss of £200,000 was still forecast for the coming year.

Mr Lucas said: “The excellent work of the supporters trust and the excellent season the team had on the pitch has helped ensure that Wrexham Football Club is facing a far brighter future.

“However, it stands to reason that a club needs supporters – and I would urge fans to make sure they buy their season tickets as soon as possible.”

Lesley Griffiths added: “Keeping the faith in Wrexham and getting a season ticket early is not just a great way to show your support, but can also help the club to plan for the season ahead.

“What’s more, these tickets may be amongst the last official Club items printed which feature the ‘1873’ date. I’m getting mine early just in case.”
