Prepare for some serious hockey action coming to Glyndwr University Sports Centre between Friday 5 July and Sunday 7 July.

Both Wales U16 Boys and Girls will take on Ireland and Scotland in the U16 three nations. Hockey Wales invites you to join the fun and come and support the teams. The three nation’s tournament will be a great opportunity for the public to support Wales and see International Hockey. All players in these under 16 squads are part of the new player pathway devised by Hockey Wales part of the Hockey for Life Framework. This pathway is designed for players to engage, grow and excel in hockey. The vision of Hockey Wales is to deliver a player-centred, development driven and competition- supported system, allowing talent to thrive at every level.

The Welsh U16 Boys will open proceedings on the evening of Friday 5 July (5:00pm) against Scotland, and will also close the competition on Sunday 7 July against Ireland. All matches will be played on the water based pitch at Wrexham Glyndwr University. The under 16s tournament will be a great opportunity to see our nation’s future senior international players, who could eventually go on to play at the Olympics as part of the Great Britain squads.

Debra Barker, North Wales Regional Delivery Manager said: “Hockey Wales are looking forward to hosting the three nation matches in North Wales; it will be a great chance for North Wales to see some top level international hockey.” Entry to the three day event is free, with programmes available for only £1. All donations are welcome; these will be towards the Wales Performance Squads.
