Wrexham Golf Coach Makes UK Top 100 List

A Wrexham golf professional has been named as one of the top 100 golf coaches in the UK by a leading golf magazine.

Jason Davies, Director of Golf at Clays Golf Academy on Bryn Estyn Road was selected to appear in the prestigious directory in Golf World Magazine by the Professional Golfers Association (PGA) as one of it’s leading coaches.

Jason is one of the most qualified golf coaches in the country, and currently completing the UKCC Level 4 Postgraduate Diploma in Sport Coaching.

On his appointment to Golf World’s Top 100 Coaches, Jason said: “I am absolutely delighted to be selected in such a high-profile and well-respected group of golf instructors.

“We are developing Clays Golf Centre into the premier golf coaching facility in Wales and the North and to gain recognition from a publication as revered as Golf World is fantastic news for everyone here.”

A former assistant at Upton-by-Chester Golf Club, Jason left the UK to pursue his coaching career and headed up the renowned Gary Player Golf Academy in Stuttgart. He went on to coach in France, Switzerland and Germany designing an award-winning junior golf programme and mentoring numerous national amateurs and professional tour players.

Since returning to the UK five years ago, Jason has earned his reputation as one of the country’s leading golf coaches and is England Golf Academy Head Coach for Shropshire & Herefordshire and Shropshire & Herefordshire County Coach.

He has designed training programmes for the counties elite squads, Shropshire Girls as well as managing the professional development of other PGA Professionals in the region.

Jason will feature in regular monthly instructional features in Golf World, which is one of the UK’s best-selling golf magazines. Other golfers in their Top 100 Coaches include Denis Pugh, former coach to Colin Montgomerie.

Clays Golf is based near Wrexham Industrial Estate, where golfers of all abilities can make use of the coaching centre, 18 hole parkland golf course, club custom-fitting centre, short-game zone, golf store and the ‘Just Your Putter’ family adventure putting course.

One of five centres of excellence for golf in Wales, Clays Golf was awarded the status by the Golf Union of Wales in 2007 for its commitment to enhancing and developing its extensive range of practice and playing facilities at the centre.
