Wrexham fans are being encouraged to support two local charities and to ‘Bring a Tin’ to next Monday night’s FA Cup match at the RaceCourse.

The ‘Bring a Tin’ initiative will be held in support of the Wrexham Food bank and the Salvation Army.

Non-perishable items of food will be collected by volunteers from the Wrexham Supporters Trust outside the ground, prior to the 7.45pm kick off, and donated to the food bank to help local people facing hardship this Christmas.

Terry Stott, from the Supporters Trust said: “Wrexham fans are well known for their generosity and the WST are proud to support a wide range of local community initiatives. We are asking each fan to ‘Bring a Tin’ or other food item to the game, and we will pass them on to the foodbank.

“We think this is another first for a football club in the UK, and will be asking our opponents on the night to support us in this also.”

The Trust will be running a Twitter and Facebook campaign to draw attention to the collection, and the important work of the Food Bank. Fans are encouraged to share @WSTtweets #Bring_a_Tin

Wrexham Food Bank / Banc Bwyd Wrecsam is run in partnership with local churches led by Salvation Army Wrexham and supported by the Trussel Trust, a community action charity.

Wrexham’s opponents in the FA Cup 2nd round will either be Gateshead or Oxford United, depending on the outcome of their first round replay on tonight.
