Two cycle events are coming to Wrexham in the coming weeks, and we have had people ask when and where they can watch!

First up is the ‘Wiggle Etape Cymru’ event which will start on Bangor on Dee racecourse on the 8th of September. The full route and expected timings can be found on the map below, and residents are advised road closures will occur on the day.

The Tour route this year takes in Wrexham, so Team Sky, including Sir Bradley Wiggins and Mark Cavendish will be among the 120 strong pack of cyclists that will get to see the town!

The route will take the A525 from Whitchurch, through Bangor-on-Dee on to Kingsmill Road, Salop Road, St Giles Way, Brook Street, up Pentre Felin then right on to Bradley Road – going along the bus lane, touching Regent Street, down Grosvenor Road then out Rhosddu Road on to Llay Road as it leaves town.

Be warned that the cyclists go incredibly fast and are expected to be in Wrexham at the below times. It gives a very small window of opportunity to see them reflecting the speed they travel at!

Cllr Neil Rogers, Leader of Wrexham Council said: “Etape Cymru is now in its third year and the event continues to go from strength to strength.

“Wrexham has a proud history of hosting top class sporting and cultural events and we are delighted that the region has truly embraced Etape Cymru.

“September promises to be a massive month for cycling, with both the Etape and Tour of Britain heading to the region.”
