A hairdressing student at Yale College has managed to secure a place at the prestigious ‘Wella Xposure’ awards.

Yale College Yale hairdressing student Jennifer Matthews has secured a place at the Wella Xposure awards to be held in Manchester in April

Jennifer was tasked with creating a highly commercial cut and colour to be photographed for submission to the well regarded competition. The selection of her work demonstrates the high standards consistently achieved by Yale learners year after year.

Jennifer will now be one of 80 learners representing their colleges across 4 regional venues. Each regional competition will challenge 20 learners to battle it out live by demonstrating their skills to recreate their winning look of a highly commercial cut and colour.

“Encouraging entry into these skills competitions develops learners to a high level of competency at an early stage in their career development and gives learners a platform in which to demonstrate their emerging talent,” says Julie Guzzo, Assistant Director of Hair and Beauty at Yale College.

The Wella Xposure Awards are held annually. The hairdressing competition is aimed at students working towards their NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Hairdressing. The challenge is open to students from any college or learning provider and provides a platform for learners to demonstrate emerging talent and skills
