Wrexham woman sets sights on climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in aid of local hospice

A Wrexham woman has her sights firmly set on climbing Mount Kilimanjaro to help raise vital money for Nightingale House Hospice.

Myfina Goddard, 27, has signed up to raise more than £4,000 for the hospice, which will help local people and their families living with life-limiting illness.

With the trip currently due to take place in September this year she has wasted no time in starting fundraising, with her colleagues and employer – Wales & West Utilities – getting firmly behind her goal.

Since signing up to the challenge in October, Myfina has held a raffle amongst colleagues based at Wales & West Utilities’ Wrexham depot. S

he was thrilled by the response, raising over £300, and even more so when her employer decided to match fund her efforts with a further £300.

“I’ve always loved walking and as a family we have always supported the wonderful efforts of Nightingale House,” Myfina.

“When I read about the organised trip, I decided to combine the two and signed up to the challenge.

“I am really excited at the prospect of completing the climb of the tallest mountain in Africa and the tallest freestanding mountain in the world.

“To say I’m pleased is an understatement – the raffle was a great start to my fundraising, and I’m thrilled that Wales & West Utilities and my colleagues have got behind my challenge.

“I’m under no illusion as to how hard the climb will be but knowing that I will have so many people back home willing me on, will give me the positivity I need.”

Nightingale House Hospice provides services for individuals and their families living within North East Wales and the border areas who are living with a diagnosis of a life-limiting illness.
