Large crowds are set to gather in the town centre this weekend to take part in Wrexham’s Armistice Day and Remembrance Sunday commemorations.

On Saturday 11th November at 11am a two-minute silence will be held on Queens Square to mark Armistice Day.

At 10.59am a bugler will sound the Last Post, a wartime air-raid siren will sound and the silence will be observed.

On Sunday 12th November the Annual Service of Remembrance will take place at the RWF Memorial, Bodhyfryd (next to the Memorial Hall off Chester Street) at 10:55am.

Members of the public are advised that barriers will be put in place at 10.30am at the following locations to allow the parade to pass safely and to secure the surrounding area:

• Chester Street (adjacent to the former Feathers pub)
• Holt Street (by the Welch Fusilier pub)
• Chester Road (near the Chester Road/Powell Road roundabout)
Access to the Bodhyfryd Car Park adjacent to Waterworld will therefore be available until 10.30am.

Wrexham Council say that ‘facilities will be available for elderly, infirm or disabled persons to follow the service from inside the Memorial Hall’.

Last month Wrexham.com reported that the town’s World War 2 siren had been repaired and renovated ahead of the Remembrance Day commemorations
