Wrexham’s Member of Parliament is calling on residents to back local community appeal: Everyone Deserves A Christmas 2023.

The annual campaign offers support to individuals and families in Wrexham who are most in need this Christmas.

Last year, Sarah Atherton MP, Mecca Bingo Wrexham, Wrexham Rotary Club and Caia Park Partnership came together to lead the appeal – which provided over 100 food hampers and 100 Christmas gift bags to vulnerable members of Wrexham’s community, many of whom were children, to enjoy during the festive period.

The appeal is looking to build on last year’s success and Sarah Atherton MP is urging local residents to show their support by donating items such as bubble bath, toy sets, craft sets, science kits, pens/colouring pencils and sports equipment (e.g. balls and rackets).

Items can be dropped off at Mecca Bingo in Wrexham city centre up until December 12.

Sarah Atherton MP commented: “Christmas can be a challenging time for many people for several different reasons, which is why I am really pleased to be involved with the EDAC appeal once again this year to support households in need by providing hampers and gift bags.

“This will enable individuals and families, including many with young children, to enjoy Christmas in a way that they perhaps otherwise would not be able to.

“I would like to thank Mecca Bingo Wrexham, Wrexham Rotary Club and Caia Park Partnership for their invaluable work again in delivering the EDAC appeal this year for the benefit of residents across Wrexham.

“I am also extremely grateful to everybody who has donated so far, and I would encourage anybody who can spare any amount of money to consider contributing to this valuable cause.

“Your donations will make a real difference to so many people and families’ lives in our community during the festive period.

“Any contribution, no matter how small or large, will be hugely appreciated.”

Items are now being collected at Mecca Bingo, Smithfield Road, Wrexham, LL13 8EN. The closing date for donations is 12 December 2023. If you require any further information, please call Mecca Bingo on 01978 312717.

If you are able to contribute to the appeal, you can do so by donating to the JustGiving page, which can be accessed here.
