Wrexham pays its respects to Queen Elizabeth II with floral tributes and Book of Condolences
People across Wrexham have started paying their respects to the late Queen Elizabeth II by laying floral tributes in the city centre.
Queen Elizabeth II passed away peacefully at Balmoral Castle, in Scotland, yesterday at the age of 96.
Locally have residents have started paying their respects to the United Kingdom’s longest reigning monarch by laying floral tributes and messages.
An area has been designated for those who want to lay flowers in memory of Her Royal Highness on Queens Square.
A book of condolences has been opened in the city’s Guildhall reception and inside St Giles Church.
Wrexham councillors who visited the city this morning to pay tribute to Her Majesty the Queen wore black clothing, black ties and also black rosettes, which are pictured below.
Many shops across the city centre have paid tributes by displaying her image in the windows or on digital advertising boards.
Others, including The Entertainer, have closed.
There will be a Remembrance Service at St Paul’s Cathedral today at 6pm.
Further details will emerge from UK Government on “the period of national mourning” – with Proclamation Day tomorrow.
King Charles III is expected to make his first televised address to the nation later today.
