fHospitality businesses across Wrexham will be encouraged to extend their trade outside to serve customers safely as and when the current level four restrictions are eased.

Wrexham Council has confirmed that it will waive the pavement licence fee to help encourage shoppers into the town and boost businesses in the coming months.

It is an extension of a similar initiative offered as part of last summer’s reopening of the economy, which also saw the High Street in Wrexham town centre was closed between 6pm and 6am, Monday to Saturday in a bid to encourage outdoor dining.

Cllr Terry Evans, Lead member for the economy and regeneration, said: “Businesses have had a really tough time since last March and they need our support.

“By offering these licences free we’re hoping to encourage them to increase the space they have for customers by using the pavement areas.

“As we approach the spring and summer months and lighter nights customers can look forward to a more cosmopolitan feel to their favourite restaurant, cafe or pub once they’re allowed to open and we’re hoping even more businesses take up the offer.”
