Wrexham’s monthly clothing exchange is returning once again this weekend, with a special event being held to help with charitable donations.

Tomorrow ‘Swop Not Shop’, Wrexham’s monthly clothing exchange is also to become a monthly drop off point for local community initiative, Given to Shine.

‘Swop Not Shop’ is a local event where people donate clothes but can pick up a new wardrobe with the credits received for the garments donated.

Given to Shine is a local non-profit organisation that provide families with food donations. The group amongst other things provides basic essentials to those struggling to afford them, hands out toiletries and helps address period poverty.

Wrexham Clothing Exchange founder, Sharon Rogers said: “I’m impressed in what ‘Given to Shine’ has done and how they operate.

“The Christmas initiative across the whole of Wrexham was wonderful and well executed, I felt I wanted to help in any way that I could.

“We ask that people who want to help Given to Shine’s to bring toiletries and non-perishable food to this month’s clothing exchange this Saturday.

“We’ll be open from 12pm till 4pm at the Wrexham Enterprise Hub, in the old Pebbles’ chippy. “

As well as a clothing exchange, ‘Swop Not Swop’ also has a clothing repair café that this month will be run by Renew Sewicials.

Since it’s inception in September, Wrexham Clothing Exchange now has over 200 members and with the number of items swapped now likely around the 1000 mark, meaning more items of clothing have been saved from landfill.
