Wrexham Football Club’s women’s team is set to be relaunched, the club’s Racecourse Foundation have announced today.

The RCF issued a statement saying they are ‘delighted’ to announce that for the forthcoming 2018/2019 season a Wrexham team will be set up and running, “The initial plans are for the Women’s team to compete in the North Wales Womens League for the coming season. Discussions are ongoing on where the Women will play their home games and we should have more news to bring on this next week.”

They added: “We will be holding recruitment sessions in the next few weeks and will announce the details of these as soon as we can, any interested players should complete a deceleration of interest form by following this link.”

“We are also looking to recruit volunteers to fill a number of positions within this new team, please contact Matt (details below) for more information.”

Business Development Manager Matthew Jones commented “This is fantastic news for us and for the club, this ensures we now have a fully clear and robust pathway for female players that join our program, a player can join aged 5 and be with us until they are adults. It is also great to see Wrexham AFC having a women’s team once again”

Gemma Owen, head of female football added “This is a natural development in our female football program and we are delighted that this is now happening”.
