Wrexham AFC fans raise over £1000 for local mental health charity
Wrexham AFC fans have helped to raise £1000 in aid of a local mental health and wellbeing charity.
Advance Brighter Futures (ABF), based on Belmont Road, held a bucket collect outside the Stok Cae Ras on Saturday 19 August.
In total £1049 was put into the collection buckets at the match thanks to generous donations from supporters.
ABF has provided mental health and wellbeing support in Wrexham since 1992. All monies raised will go directly towards supporting people in the local community.
Zoe Whitehead, Business Development Officer at ABF, said: “We’d like to thank Kerry Evans, Disability Liaison Officer, and everyone at Wrexham AFC for choosing to support ABF this season with a bucket collection, along with our dedicated volunteers who gave up their Saturday afternoon to help us raise vital funds for the charity.
“There was a great atmosphere at the ground, and we cannot thank the fans enough for their donations to us.
“We’ve all watched the Welcome to Wrexham documentary and being able to experience the community spirit first hand was amazing.
“We understand times are hard for most right now, so their generosity blew us away. In fact, it was the most raised at a bucket collection in the history of ABF.
“We’re only a small charity, so any donation, big or small, really does mean the world to us.
“The incredible amount raised at Wrexham AFC will go directly to helping local people in our community with their mental health and wellbeing.
“Our services have been needed more than ever over recent months, and we want to help as many people as we can. These donations will allow us to support more people, so they really are appreciated.”
