Work on new housing development in Holt set to start late spring

A development of more 20 new homes in Holt has taken a step forward after being approved by Wrexham Council.

Planning committee members were asked to grant the application for Wrexham Road subject to a longer consultation period. Once complete a final to approved will be made by the council’s chief planning officer.

The development, which will be known as ‘Castle Green’, which will be a mix of three- and four-bedroom homes. Macbryde say the homes are expected to “appeal to first-time buyers, young professionals & growing families.”

Speaking at this month’s planning meeting, the company’s design and technical manager explained that nearly an acre of landscape, along with a multi-use gaming area, will be provided via a Section 106 agreement with the local authority.

Subject to approval being granted by the council’s chief planning officer, work on-site is anticipated to start late spring.

Managing director of Macbryde Homes, Gwyn Jones, said: “Holt is a highly desirable town which boasts a rich mix of history alongside a diverse range of independent retailers and excellent pubs and restaurants.

“Its proximity to Chester and Wrexham, combined with its well-regarded schools and enviable leisure facilities make Holt a highly sought-after location in which to live and we’re, therefore, delighted to have been given the green light to bring these new homes to the town.”

Macbryde say that some of the homes will be available to purchase with the help of Help-to-Buy Wales once sales launch later this year.
