A witness appeal has been launched after a woman was assaulted near the Wrexham Maelor Hospital.

North Wales Police say it is alleged that victim was walking along the pavement when a man in a bus shelter, opposite the ambulance entrance to the hospital, assaulted her.

The incident reportedly took place on Croesnewydd Road, outside the Wrexham Maelor Hospital, at 6.15pm on September 28.

Police are appealing for witnesses – particularly for an elderly male in the area at the time – who may have seen the alleged assault.

Detective Constable Simon Letch said: “We believe this was an isolated incident and would like to reassure the community that incidents of this nature are rare.

“We understand another person, believed to be an elderly male, was standing near the bus shelter at the time of the incident and may have witnessed what happened.

“If this was you, we are asking you to contact us as soon as possible using the below link, or calling us on 101, using reference 23000942961.

“Anyone with information that could assist with our investigation is also urged to get in touch.”
