Police are reminding people to be security conscious when using cash machines after a potential skimming device was discovered on the ATM at the Spar in Gresford.

The device, which was found on Sunday morning, was seized and the ATM inspected and found to be in order.

The suspect device had been placed over the green anti-skim device that sticks out above the card slot.

If the green device that the card is inserted into is pulled gently, it will not flex or come off if it is genuine.

PC Gareth Roberts said: “You should always be mindful of security when using an ATM. If you think there is something suspicious about the machine or anyone nearby is behaving suspiciously call the police on 101.

“If you have seen someone behaving suspiciously around this machine in Gresford recent days please report the information quoting reference RC17061222.”
