Police have issued a warning to parents after officers “intercepted” letters addressed to young people containing medication.

A spokesperson for North Wales Police Eastern Community Division said that three brown envelopes being sent to the Gresford and Gwersyllt areas were stopped.

They contained diazepam tablets, which are used to treat conditions such as anxiety, muscle spasms and fits – along with vials of cloudy liquid.

The spokesperson added: “The items could have been bought on the internet and are dangerous if not prescribed.”
