It’s always time for brunch at Wrexham’s newest independent eatery…

Located on Hill Street, Lot 11 is a ‘hideout’ which offers a range of coffees and cakes alongside an extensive menu that we think is offering something quite unique in Wrexham, including bang on trend proper smashed avocado!

The main focus of the menu is brunch – something which the owner of Lot 11, Sarah Baker, says was inspired by her time in Australia.

Offering a twist on traditional breakfast items, the cafe’s menu features a full Welsh breakfast, smashed avocado and poached eggs on sourdough toast, cereals and ‘proper baked beans’ in chunky tomato sauce.

The cafe also offers freshly made sandwiches, cakes / muffins and a range of coffees and teas.

Yesterday we popped down to the official opening of Lot 11, with Wrexham AFC’s very own Captain and recent Derby Day winner Shaun Pearson on hand to cut the ribbon.

Explaining the concept behind Lot 11, Sarah, told Wrexham.com: “I originally got the idea from when I went travelling to Australia. They have an amazing cafe culture out there, specifically in Melbourne and Sydney and I just fell in love with brunch and coffee.

Rich Watkin of Fat Boar fame can be seen floating around in the video, he along with others in the Fat Boar team are helping launch the venture and have backed Sarah’s dream.

Sarah said: “When I had to come back to Wrexham I was really missing that cafe culture, so I thought of opening my own place. Luckily i’m really good friends with Rich Watkin, one of the owners at the Fat Boar, so I went to work for him.”

“I passed my idea onto him and together we came up with the idea for Lot 11.

“The name is based on the idea of elevenses – coffee and cake is popular 11 and it just so happened that we found the building 11 Hill Street.”

In the future the cafe will be looking branch out by offering pop-up nights, baby showers and afternoon teas.

Tucked away on the top floor of the building is The Loft Beautique – a beauty studio offering everything from manicures and skin treatments.

The business has been set up by Sarah Kyffin, a mum of two who has more than 16 years experience in the beauty industry.

Speaking yesterday to Wrexham.com, Sarah told us she wants to provide a warm and welcoming atmosphere to clients using the salon.

She said: “I think people can get afraid to come to some salons. I want people to relax and give them a nice environment.

“With downstairs, if people want a drink or lunch while they wait, it’s all under one roof.”

Over the next few weeks there will be a makeup artist joining the team, along with someone providing skin treatments to clients.

There’s also a stand selling handmade products by Heidi Lou Jewellery, a local crafter who specialises in creating sterling silver bracelets, necklaces and rings.

Sarah added: “I am really pleased with it, it’s so cosy. It’s what I want, to create a space where people can come to enjoy.

“I want to give something unique and I think it flows from downstairs to up here.”

You can find Lot 11 and The Loft Beautique on Hill Street in the town centre – just down the road from Waterstones.

More information about Lot 11 can be found here. Further details about The Loft Beautique can be found on Facebook.
