Households on a street in Wrexham have been waiting three weeks to have their bins collected – with Wrexham Council stating access issues have meant wagons have been unable to take the waste.

One resident contacted Wrexham.com this morning to say a number of houses in the Bryn Offa area of town hadn’t had their black bins collected in three weeks.

The resident told us: ” There is three weeks worth of rubbish piling up now. Contacted Wrexham Street Scene every day this week to be told either no available wagons or it will get done that same day. Still waiting.”

However Wrexham Council say that the waste has not been collected due to the wagon having access issues to the street. It has since been confirmed that a wagon will go out tomorrow (Saturday) but will only collect bins if they can gain access to the area.

Last week Wrexham Council posted information on its news blog as to why residents’ bins / recycling may not always be collected, citing access wagons being unable get down a road without causing damage to parked vehicles as key reason.

Wrexham Council say: “Quite often this because the vehicles are parked without due regard to other road users, particularly the bin wagons. so please take care about where you park on bin day and, if possible, make sure your neighbours are aware that they may be stopping the whole street from being collected.

“Our crews want to do their job thoroughly but they have to do it safely and without harm to anyone or anything so please try and make it as easy as possible for them to get down your street.”
