A further three teenagers have been arrested in connection with an arson attack at a Wrexham Leisure Centre earlier this month.

Back on October 4th Wrexham.com reported that Splash Magic Leisure Centre, formally Plas Madoc in Acrefair had been set alight, with several fire crews called to tackle the blaze.

As a result of the fire the community run leisure centre was left with external damage, which was contained to one area of the building.

Shortly after the incident a 15-year-old male was arrested on suspicion of arson.  He was later released on bail.

Wrexham.com spoke to North Wales Police today who confirmed that a further three teenagers had been arrested in connection with the incident.

The teenagers, aged 14, 15 and 16 have been interviewed and bailed until a later date.

The blaze at the building generated a strong response online, with many in disbelief as to why anyone would target the community run enterprise.

Plas Madoc Leisure Centre was closed by Wrexham Council little over a year ago and was reportedly running at a £400,000-a-year loss under local authority ownership, but has been turned around into a vibrant facility by the Splash Community Trust.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing and anyone with any information regarding the incident is advised to contact North Wales Police on 101 or Crimestoppers 0800 555 111.

The crime reference number for the incident is RC15152406.
