UPDATE: Friday August 2nd:

We had a tweet from Shirley Smith this morning telling us that the syringe is still near the wall by Wilkinsons.

Wrexham.com popped down this afternoon and took a photo of the syringe, which has now been there since Wednesday.

We spoke to some of the staff at Wilkinsons who are now aware of it, and we were told they would tell their manager.

Original Story from Wednesday:

A resident from Wrexham has voiced her concern after finding a syringe near Wilkinson’s on Island Green.

Shirley Smith noticed the syringe earlier today down the side of a wall by Wilkinsons.

Shirley said: “I took my little boy swimming this morning, and we usually climb over the wall by Wilkinsons, but we didn’t notice it at first.

“It was my mum who told me about the syringe, and when I went to an appointment later I noticed it by the wall.”

After finding the syringe, Shirley contacted the Council and asked if it would be possible for them to dispose of it.

Shirley said: “I phoned the Council and was put through to a different department, but was told they couldn’t help as it was a privately owned site.

“I thought someone would help.”

It was suggested that Shirley went into one of the nearby shops and asked if they could remove the syringe.

“I’m aware that lots of people jump over the wall, it’s the first time I’ve seen anything like that there before.

“In my opinion, whether it’s privately owned property or not, the Council should be able to help.”

(We have contacted the Council on what should be done if someone discovers a syringe, and are waiting for them to get back in touch)
