Plans for a skatepark in Brymbo have taken a major step forward after residents formed a community group called Brymbo Play Association to help raise funds towards the project.

The group have set themselves a target of £10,000 and their first fundraising event is a 50 mile bike ride which has been sponsored by Queens Cross MOT Testing Garage of Brymbo.

The bike ride will take place on Saturday 25th August and will be followed by entertainment at Brymbo Conservative Club during the evening.

They are now seeking further donations and sponsorship from local businesses and residents.

Councillor for Brymbo Paul Rogers said Brymbo was in desperate need of improved play facilities and was pleased to be supporting the project.

“I am pleased that residents have come together to form a group which will help raise funds towards the skatepark project.”

“It is understandable that children and their parents become frustrated that their village doesn’t have the facilities which neighbouring areas benefit from.”

“I look forward to working with the group to help raise funds for a skatepark and hope that the whole community get behind it”
