Shoppers in Wrexham Town Centre are being urged to be vigilant following two separate incidents of handbag thefts over the weekend.

On Saturday 18th April two females in Wrexham town centre were victims of theft from their handbags in two separate incidents. The first victims purse was stolen from her handbag which was over her shoulder whilst she was walking in the vicinity of Hope Street on Saturday afternoon (RC15054831 OWL Alert Eastern).

The second victim had her mobile phone stolen, also from her handbag later that evening in the Abbott Street area (RC15055915 OWL Alert Eastern).

Insp Kneale said: “I would remind all members of the public to be vigilant and ensure that they keep any bags closed and within sight. These were isolated incidents in a busy town centre at different times of the day. PCSO’s will be offering crime prevention devices to members of the public in the town centre on Saturday and the Community Safety Team have also provided a number of devices which will be available from Wrexham Police Station.

“Should anybody witness any suspicious behaviour or have information in relation to these thefts, I would ask that they contact North Wales Police by telephoning 101 quoting the reference numbers.”
