Shoppers in town had a scare when a car appeared to lose control on Regent Street and ended up resting against a bollard.

One shopper said people ‘jumped out of the way’ of the car as it lost control outside of Bargain Buys. After the incident concerned onlookers came to the aid of the driver, who we are told was thankfully uninjured.

Four police cars attended the incident, with one person telling us they were ‘very impressed’ with the speed of the response.

North Wales Police confirmed they attended a Road Traffic Collision on Regent Street outside the furniture outlet shop, following reports that a vehicle had collided with a lamp post.

The incident took place at around 11:59am and involved one vehicle.

UPDATE: A few people nearby have been in touch since we published this article. Nick, who was outside the old woolworths store said: “You could see a car moving slowly, and a male pedestrian shouting at the drive to stop his car, and that he wasn’t go go anywhere.”

“The car was already close to the side of the road where it stopped, and it slowly rolled into the bollard, I wouldn’t say it hit as in your article.”

On our Facebook page comments have been left with one saying the individual involved “was diabetic & was shaking like a leaf with panic when some kind women actually went to see if he was okay and gave him chocolate.”
