School Transport ‘Covered’ This Morning After GHA Coaches Enters Administration

School transport serviced by GHA Coaches has been replaced this morning following the news last night that the company has entered administration.

Around 400 jobs across North East Wales, Chester and Shropshire have been put at risk following the news that GHA Coaches had entered administration and ‘ceased trading immediately’.

Following the announcement Wrexham Council stated that they would be prioritising school transport to ensure all pupils get to school.

Speaking last night Cllr David A Bithell who is the Lead Member for Environment and Transport at Wrexham Council said: ““Our priority at the moment is to ensure that our statutory services such as home to school transport are maintained and all pupils get to school.

“We have approached other operators earlier this evening and we are confident that we will be able to provide alternative transport via other vehicles such as minibuses or taxis, although at this late stage their may be some gaps or disruption given the late notice tonight.”

This morning it has been confirmed that the following School Transport Routes previously serviced by GHA Coaches have now been covered by the following Operators:

Further information on the commercial routes that have been affected in Wrexham have not yet been confirmed.

A formal comment has also been issued by GHA Coaches, who have posted on their website: “It is with with regret that GHA Coaches Ltd has ceased trading on Wednesday 13th July 2016 and are no longer operating bus or coach services with immediate effect.

“We would like to thank our customers for their support over the years.

“For details of replacement bus services please call Traveline 0300 200 22 33.”
