Police activity on Ruthin Road yesterday has been explained this afternoon by North Wales Police.

Several Wrexham.com readers got in touch, with David sending the above picture saying “Armed officers waiting at Ysgol Clywedog”. Charlotte told us: “Armed police by Clywedog school with helicopter above. Pretty grid locked by Coedpoeth.”

Traffic in the area was affected, with some queues building from and towards Coedpoeth.

Several others told us of police cars blocking access to the traveller site just off Ruthin Road.

North Wales Police told us they were called at 16:53 to reports of a disturbance near Ruthin Road.

We were told officers were deployed along with the police helicopter to support, with no one being arrested.
