Police have said a section of a busy Wrexham road is “likely to be closed for some time” following a collision in the early hours of this morning which has seen two people taken to hospital.

A car collided with a building on Ruthin Road, and police have closed sections of the A525 in both directions as a result.

The collision took place at 02:21hrs near the Bellevue Park side of the railway bridge, just past Morrisons.

Wrexham town police confirmed in their statement that the occupants of the vehicle were quickly transferred to the hospital and that they are not searching for any other individuals in connection with the incident.

The police said the road between the junction of Croesnewydd Road and the junction of Victoria Road will remain closed until at least midday.

Despite the closures, traffic reports indicate that the situation is currently being managed well.

“This will no doubt cause some traffic issues and congestion, but I assure you it is essential to allow for the scene to be examined and made safe,” a police spokesperson said.

Local residents and commuters are encouraged to find alternative routes where possible, although current reports suggest that traffic is coping well under the circumstances.

Police have issued their apologies for any inconvenience caused and reassured the public that further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
