A village Post Office has officially reopened in its brand new location.

Residents of Ruabon have been left without the service for several months after it was announced that its previous premises in McColl’s, on Ruabon High Street, was to close.

McColl’s, which housed the village’s only Post Office counter, was among the company’s 1,164 branches taken over by Morrisons. ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌ ‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌

However local residents and politicians launched a campaign to restore a Post Office in the local community.

Today Ruabon Post Office has reopened at a new, nearby location in Ruabon Discount Stores, New High Street.

A Post Office counter has been created alongside the retail counter of the general household store.

The Post Office opening hours are: Monday to Friday: 8am – 6pm; Saturday: 9am – 5.30pm; Sunday: 10am – 4pm. This provides 64 hours and 30 minutes of Post Office service a week.

The same range of Post Office products and services continue to be available.

Carol Williams, Post Office Network Provision Lead, said: “We are delighted to have restored a Post Office to this area as we know how important a Post Office is to a community. The branch’s opening hours will make it easy for customers to visit.”
