A town centre road was temporarily blocked this morning after a vehicle collided with a set of traffic lights on Salop Road.

The incident took place on the A525 between Salop Road / St Giles Way, and involved a vehicle colliding with the traffic lights between Lidl and Matalan.

A spokesperson for North Wales Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 9.22am to a one-vehicle road accident on Salop Road in Wrexham. We responded with an emergency ambulance, and a man in his 80s was given a check-up at scene.”

Damage was also caused to the traffic lights on the road, with a spokesperson for Wrexham Council saying: “The traffic lights in question still work but contractors will be hired to review any damage and repair them. The damage post will be replaced this Sunday.”

The road reopened fully shortly before 11am.
