A short notice road closure is being put in place in Garden Village as Wales & West Utilities work.

Programme Controller Francis Kirk said: “We are working in Garden Village on a £320,000 scheme to replace more than 2.6km of old metal gas pipes with new plastic ones. This is essential to make sure homes in the area continue to receive a safe and reliable supply of gas now and in the future.

“Due to the location of our gas pipe in the area, from tomorrow (2 December 2015) we will have to temporarily close Balmoral Road at its junction with Sandway Road. We have agreed this with Wrexham County Borough Council highways department, and we anticipate that the road will be closed for 5 days.

“Our team will be working as safely and as quickly as they can to make sure we complete this part of the work with while keeping disruption to a minimum.

“If anyone has any queries on our work, they can approach the team on site with any questions, contact us on Twitter @WWUtilities, on Facebook.com/WWUtilities, or alternatively can contact our customer services team on free phone 0800 912 2999.

“Our work in Wrexham is part of our 30 year gas pipe replacement programme across Wales and the south west of England, which began in 2002. Old metal pipes within 30 metres of buildings are being replaced with new long-lasting plastic pipes with a lifespan of more than 80 years.”
