Road blocked & trains cancelled after lorry crashes into bridge in Ruabon

A road in Ruabon is currently blocked after a lorry collided with a railway bridge.

10pm Update: The latest train updates says “A road vehicle colliding with a bridge between Ruabon and Wrexham General is causing disruption to journeys between Shrewsbury and Wrexham General. As a result of this, trains may be cancelled, delayed or diverted.”

The road is closed as of 9:45pm with bridge inspection and recovery underway.

The incident took place just before 5:30pm on the B5605 Johnstown to Ruabon road.

Arriva Trains have said: “Cancellations to services between Ruabon and Wrexham General due to a road vehicle colliding with a bridge between Ruabon and Wrexham General all lines are blocked. Train services running through these stations may be cancelled, delayed or diverted. Disruption is expected until 19:30. Replacement road transport is being sourced.”

Traffic is starting to build in the area in both directions as a result of the incident.
