A children’s adventure centre on the Rhosrobin Industrial Estate was broken into early Friday morning.

Gecko’s Play Cafe (formally the Jolly Jungle) suffered damage to the interior and exterior of the building during a break in that took place between midnight and 4am.

The lock on the main gate had been cut off, with doors smashed to gain entry.

The alarm was raised by neighbouring property owners on the estate at 4am with police arriving at the scene shortly before 5am.

Wrexham.com were told that fingerprints have been found, and there are several CCTV cameras in the vicinity that were operational and are being checked.

One of the owners of Gecko’s, Paul White said: “Hopefully we will catch those responsible.  It’s not pleasant and I don’t understand why anyone would break into a children’s play area.”

Only sweets, chocolate and drinks are currently all that are known to have been stolen during the break in. However the interior of the building has been left in a mess, with the cafe suffering the most damage.

There was no money on the premises at the time, although two tills were smashed during the break in.

Wrexham.com had reports that there were lizards running around, however we can confirm that it was just a rumour and all animals were thankfully safe in their enclosures.

“Business has been lost because of the break in because we haven’t been able to open all day. The police have been around and staff have been clearing up today.” said Paul,

“The main thing is the play structure and the animals are all fine.”

The doors and locks were replaced yesterday and Gecko’s Play Cafe has reopened for business as usual today.
